STAINLESS STEEL FIBRES
Including Slit Sheet, Melt Extract and Drawn
Wire
(see info below and image, below left)
Slit Sheet:
Manufactured from coil by “chopping” the width
of the coil, which becomes the fiber’s length.
Good dimensional stability, clean, good ductility,
uniform chemical composition, can be formed
(ex. Continuous Deformed (shown above), End
Deformed, Heavy or Mild Deformations, Straight).
Used in castables and is exceptionally user
friendly in gunning operations.
Melt Extract:
Manufactured by melting elements in a crucible.
A flywheel is then introduced to the crucible
and droplets of molten metal are spun into the
open air and hardened; this process is called
spun cast. The speed of the wheel determines
the fiber length.
Drawn Wire:
Manufactured by drawing cast rod through a series
of dies. This process is the most expensive
of the three but does provide high tensile strength
(low ductility). Generally used in castable
requirements.
